User can't dial through DUN connectoid on
Windows 9x systems - "Specified port is not connected"
If a user attempts to use the provider's DUN connectoid to dial on
Windows 9x systems, they will receive the error: "Specified port
is not connected", when trying to connect. This is because the
connectoid is purposely not configured properly to prevent the
subscriber from dialing the provider when not using OOIDA ISP

No connectoid created
during installation
If a user signs up and installs OOIDA ISP while using AOL or
Compuserve, no default connectoid is created. The user may not be able
to simply open up Explorer at this point to and have OOIDA ISP appear.
To remedy, the user should open OOIDA ISP and initiate a connection
via OOIDA ISP. OOIDA ISP will always recreate a connectoid and set
itself as the default dialer.

Error 602: "Other
port open error" when dialing
The "Other port open
error" is generated on Windows 2000 and XP when, in fact, the
modem is not currently switched on or connected. This is a system based
error and occurs when using DUN as well.
To remedy, have the user
check their modem connections and ensure the power is on then redial

Dialer does not return an
error if line unplugged during dialing
On some system
configurations, OOIDA ISP can appear to hang while dialing if a line
is disconnected while attempting to dial. OOIDA ISP will eventually
timeout after a couple of minutes. The user can click Cancel to
return immediately
DUN will behave in the same manner on those systems configurations

Canceling dialing appears
not to work or hangs
There are certain times
during the dialing phase where canceling appears to hang or take a long
time to occur. This will typically happen if the user clicks Cancel
immediately after dialing, but before negotiation starts. This also can
happen while dialing through DUN directly.
If the user waits a few
seconds, OOIDA ISP will properly cancel

Error: "You (or a program) have requested information from..."
For Windows XP only:
This error occurs because the user has disconnected before an update or
a time synchronization has completed. It typically happens only when a
disconnect is made within a few seconds of connecting. The message may
continue to appear a number of times whether the user click Connect or
Cancel in response to the dialog
The user should reconnect to
prevent further dialogs during the session.

DUN / IE dialer is launched after registration instead of
OOIDA ISP
This occurs if the user has
installed and registered over an Ethernet or broadband connection where
a modem was not used. At the end of registration, the user will be
properly configured, but some data may still need to pass between the
system and the server. This causes a connection to be reopened, but
occurs before OOIDA ISP is completely integrated as the default
dialer.
To remedy, the user should
open OOIDA ISP and connect through OOIDA ISP. This will cause the OOIDA ISP
connectoid to be created and set as the default dialer.

Dialer does not open or connect when checking mail in Outlook Express
If the OOIDA ISP mail
account has "include this account when receiving mail or
synchronizing" field unchecked, then opening Outlook Express
when OOIDA ISP is not connected does not launch OOIDA ISP.
To remedy, the user should
select the "Include this account when receiving mail or
synchronizing" field

Built-in DUN Dialer launches when checking e-mail
This can occur when the user
has an additional, non-default mail account that is bound a connectoid
other that the provider's connectoid
To remedy, the user should
select the "Include this account when receiving mail" checkbox
in Outlook Express settings, or cancel the IE dialer and connect via OOIDA ISP

General Connection Error
For Windows 98: When another
connection is connected, OOIDA ISP gives a "General
Connection" error instead of "Another connection in
use" error

Dialing Error: "We
were unable to find the specified Plan-POP. Please try later."
For Phonebook versions of
OOIDA ISP: If the Area Code and/or Country Code is left blank
when the INS file is sent, the fields are not parsed properly and will
return the above error upon connection attempts. To remedy, open the
Phonebook Options and search and select a number based on the current
area code
