Manual Setup of Windows ME


Click on the Start button, then go to Settings and the Control Panel.  

Find the Network and Dial-up Connections and double click on the Icon

Double click on Make New Connection.  This will open up the New Connection Wizard

Click the Next button

Select "Dial-up to private network"

Enter in the local access number you were given. If you have 10 digit calling in your area, enter the full number in the "Telephone number" field and leave the "Area code field blank. If you do not have or know your local access number, please contact Internet Tech Support at 877-599-2295 to get your local access number. (NOTE: Please verify with your local phone company that the number you are dialing will be a local call for you.  PowerNet Global is not responsible for any long distance charges you incur using the OOIDA ISP service)

Select "For all users" and click the Next button

In the field "Type a name for the computer you are dialing" enter in OOIDA ISP.  Also, make sure there is a check in "Add a shortcut to my desktop" and click the Finish button.

The Connect OOIDA ISP dialog box will open up.  Make sure the username has @ooidaisp.com at the end of it and click the Properties button.

Make sure that the local access number is entered correctly and that the "Use dialing rules" box is unchecked.  Click on the Options tab.

Under "Dialing options" make sure everything is checked except "Include Windows logon domain".  Click on the Security tab.

Make sure the "Security options" is set to "Typical".  Click on the Networking tab

Under the "Type of dial-up server I am calling", click on the Settings button

Make sure "Enable LCP extensions" and "Enable software compression" is selected. Click OK

In the middle white box, click once on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" to highlight and click on the Properties button

This will open the Internet Protocol Properties dialog box.  Make sure that "Obtain an IP address automatically" is selected and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" is selected.  Click on the Advanced button.

Under the General tab, make sure that "Use default gateway on remote network" and "Use IP header compression" is selected.  Click the DNS tab

Make sure that "Append primary and connection specific DNS suffixes" and "Append parent suffixes of the primary DNS suffix" is selected.  Click on the WINS tab

Make sure that "Enable LMHOSTS lookup" is selected.  Click OK

Go to the Control Panel and double click on the Internet Options icon

The Internet Properties dialog box will open up.  In the Home page area, enter in the following address if you would like OOIDA ISP to be your start page when you open Internet Explorer.  If you do not choose to have OOIDA ISP as your start page, you can select any web address you would like to start at when you open IE.  Next click on the Connections tab

In the white box that says "Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings" make sure OOIDA ISP is selected and click on the Settings button.

Where it says "Dial-up settings" enter in your username and password.  The username needs to be entered as "username@ooidaisp.com"  Click OK, and then click OK again to take you back to the Control Panel.  Then close the Control Panel

On the Desktop, find the icon that says AceInter.net.  Double click on the Icon to open the Connect AceInter.net dialog box

Make sure that the username is in as username@aceinter.net and click connect. Once connected, open up Internet Explorer or any other browser you prefer to view the Internet
